Karate Is Going Olympic

Master Jarrett and other executive members of the USANKF met with the United States Olympic Commitee in Colorado Springs CO and came back with exciting news!!

The International Olympic Commitee has raised the status of Sport Karate to an Olympic event.  It has not been included in the next Olympics, but we now have full confidence that it will be included in upcoming Olympics. This has been a long term goal for the USANKF and for countless other Karate organizations around the world for many years!

Also, the USOC expressed their full support of the USANKF as the National Governing Body for Sport Karate in the US.

2007 - An Exciting Year!

The acceptance of Karate as an Olympic event will bring many changes and renewed growth.  Expect more tournaments and more competitors than ever before!

Are you interested in competition?  This year there will be numerous opportunities for tournament participation. First, Alpharetta Martial Arts is planning a training session for those that are interested in learning how to judge sparring and forms. Next, there will be a small “in house” tournament this spring at the Alpharetta dojo. Additionally, Master Bushnell is hosting a SE Regional Tournament in Birmingham, scheduled for May 5th. There are also several USA-NKF sanctioned tournaments on the schedule.  First is a qualifier February 17th in St. Albans, WV.  Next is the Junior Olympic & US Open, April 7th, in Las Vegas.
